Nav system fault, Ford says they should have an update by Janaury, no solution currently. Microsoft sync system has many issues and needs update that is very time consuming and not user friendlyīlend door actuator stripped and had to be replacedġ20 volt outlet repaired Backup camera replaced We did not have the fuel gauge repaired before trade-in as it was an easy fix for them (we were told), and could be an expensive one for us.Īudio for the DVD system on rear headrests does not work through thru the vehicle radio as indicated in the user guide, transmitted over a "unused" frequency which apparently is not really unused depending on the locale you are in. I am still waiting to get it looked at to see how much it will cost and if covered under warranty Ford not sure why part failed.įuel gauge isn't working - I've taken it in for repairs but have had to reschedule due to heavy volume of vehicles needing work, ahead of mine. Car had less than 75000km when this occurred. AC compressor replaced using Ford Extended Warranty. I was forced to buy an OBD2 cable and FORscan in an attempt to clear the faults but as of today, fault lights are still on.ĪC compressor clutch disintegrated and was nowhere to be found in engine bay. Shop does not want to claim responsibility. Upon starting there were multiple warning related to brake and traction control system. But after jump starting the car just to get home and had the new battery delivered and installed.

It seems if it sits for a week with no use, the parasitic drain on the battery is high and it gives this error until it has been driven to full charge. Got charging system error, noted bad battery by the "eye" on the battery being black.Ĭharging system error again. Found and replaced a damaged pin in a harness connector. They found 3 pages of codes and a lack of BCM communication. Problem reoccurred, drove car straight to dealer with warning lights on, did not turn it off. Replaced hinges, control module, lift gate motor. Dealer replaced battery.īattery bad on service. Digital pictures of the connector are available.Ambient temperature sensor would sporadically read wrong replaced under extended warranty Also I have over 20 years of aircraft electronics experience as an avionics technician and fully understand proper wire routing procedures. I base this on the fact that the 3 pins with broken retainers are on the top row of the connector and would be the most stressed in a lower position of the steering wheel. I believe the harness is secured with insufficient slack to prevent excessive stress on the connector at the lower positions of the steering column tilt range. Also the wiring harness is secured above the tilt pivot point of the steering column. Connector must be replaced to correct problem. A fourth was found to be in the connector but not retaining it's pin.

3 connector pin retainers fell out and were recovered. Wires out at bottom of tilt and in at top of tilt range. Wires move in and out as column is moved through tilt range. Removed steering column cover and found 4 wires pulled out of connector on multi-function (turn signal switch). Found positioning steering column to a higher tilt position corrected malfunction. Rear turn and brake lamp were inoperable. Began with rapid flashing of left turn signal. Vehicle is a 2002 Ford sport trac with approx 42k miles.
